Weekly Update

Thank you to all who waited patiently as I made my way through two days of conferences. It was a pleasure to meet with all of you.

This past week was spent talking about the Pilgrims, Native Americans and the first Thanksgiving. We spent a little time preparing to make our "costume" for our little feast set for next Wednesday. We also continued to write narratives about small moments in our lives. Everyone has been working hard trying to put their oral stories into words.......very difficult and challenging to do but we have done a great job! We also continue to work on rhyming, beginning sounds, sight word practice and letter formation as we make our way through the lowercase alphabet.

In Math, we have been working on composing/decomposing numbers through ten frames. We continue to count and compare quantities to develop a strong understanding of each number. Number fluency is an important piece in developing a strong math foundation. Our next focus will be on classifying and categorizing different groups of things and finding how they are the same or different.

Land Ho!

We have been discussing the Pilgrims and their trip on the Mayflower. Here we are sailing the rough seas!

We voted!

Yes. We voted in class on Tuesday November 8th!. We talked about the voting process and what you had to do to vote at the polls. So we stood in a long line, made sure we gave our names and addresses to Mrs. Hedberg to get our ballot, voted in the booth, exited the poll by stating our name and address again to Mrs. Malmquist before placing a ballot in the box. We did count the votes later. Secretary Clinton won in our class. I must say it was all very exciting!!

Veteran's Day Presentation

Today we watched and participated in a presentation about Veteran's Day. We sang many patriotic songs and learned about what a veteran is and how he/she serves our country to preserve the freedoms that we have today! We are proud of our country and what it represents!

Halloween

Thank you to all the moms and dads who helped out with the first party of the year. A big success!!
The costumes were great and we had the chance to parade around the school for all to see! In the afternoon we played games, danced, made an awesome mask and ATE (our favorite thing to do)!
So much FUN......
