Spring Update

Well March has come and gone so quickly! We have been very busy writing words and sentences using the Fundations program as a guide. Working with our magnetic letter boards has helped us to tap and blend the letters as we spell with the tiles. This practice helps us to attack unknown words with more confidence when reading.

In Math, we are finishing up on addition and subtraction. We have been working on finding the missing addend in an equation and finding ways to solve the unknown number. We have learned to use connecting cubes, counters, ten frames, number lines and our fingers to assist us when we don't know the answers. We have learned that there are many different ways we can solve problems! We have also played subtraction bowling as a fun addition to our unit!

Read Across America!

This week we celebrated Read Across America. In honor of Dr. Seuss we kicked off the celebration with a school wide assembly. We were visited by the Cat in the Hat, heard a story from a mystery reader, wore crazy socks one day and red and white clothes on Friday. We have also been reading Dr. Seuss books all week!
