Field Day!
Wow! The perfect day for Field Day!! It was so much fun. Thanks to all who helped to make it a success. We were busy and tired!
Southwick
Yay! A sunny day for the zoo! A bit warm as the day went on but overall the weather could not have been better. Thanks to the parents who volunteered their time to chaperone. It was very much appreciated! We had a great time.

Weekly Update
This week in math we have been spending time working on 2D and 3D shapes. We have been talking about attributes and what makes them different or the same. We like to think that 2D shapes are flat and 3D shapes are fat or more mathematically, a solid. We have discovered that there are so many kinds of shapes all around us wherever we go! We have been exploring pattern blocks, geoblocks and attribute blocks. We have also played games that challenge our mathematical minds.
Along with shapes we have been learning how to decompose teen numbers. Many questions have been posed and we have found ways to explain our answers. How many groups of ten and ones are in the numbers? What does that mean? How did you come to that conclusion? Can you show me what that means? Math discussions are ongoing every day.
In literacy, we are currently working on the digraphs sh, ch ,th, ck and wh. We have been spelling words with these digraphs and sorting pictures that go along with the appropriate digraph.

Our butterflies are hatching!
Yes! We have a butterfly! It was coming out of its chrysalis as we were in class. No one noticed until it was just about out. How exciting!

Life Cycles
Our science unit on life cycles has begun. As you probably know we are observing the stages of a butterfly. We have been reading books and watching videos that show what happens during the weeks of change. Below is the chrysalis stage. They are ready to be placed in the butterfly pavilion! We will be watching closely as we wait for them to hatch.......
